Making a real difference in the community

At Community Development and Growth CIC, we empower individuals and families through education and support. Explore our impact and read inspiring case studies that highlight the positive changes we bring to communities in Camden and beyond.

Moments we're proud of

Some of our proudest moments come from seeing people grow in confidence and take positive steps forward in their lives.

We’ve supported mothers who arrived with little or no English to become confident speakers, able to communicate with schools, access services, and support their children’s education. Seeing that transformation—from isolation to confidence—is incredibly powerful.

We’ve also worked with families who were worried about their children’s safety. Through our programmes, parents gained the knowledge and confidence to recognise risks and take action early, helping to protect their children and create safer futures.

In our women’s groups, we’ve seen learners who were once quiet and unsure become active, confident members of the community—making friends, volunteering, and even progressing into further learning or work.

These moments—when someone smiles with confidence, speaks up for the first time, or supports others—are what truly show the impact of our work.

Our standout success stories

One of our most powerful success stories is of a mother who joined our ESOL programme with very limited English and low confidence. At the start, she struggled to communicate with her children’s school and felt isolated. Through consistent support, she developed her language skills, gained confidence, and became actively involved in her children’s education. Today, she supports other women in the community. This stands out because it shows a full transformation—from isolation to empowerment and leadership.

Another key success story comes from our parental resilience programme. A parent attended our sessions and learned how to recognise early signs of exploitation. Using this knowledge, she took early action, accessed support services, and was able to protect her child from harm. This story stands out because it demonstrates real, life-changing impact—not just for one individual, but for the safety and future of a whole family.

Measuring our impact

We measure our impact by combining participant feedback, progression data, and real-life outcomes to understand the difference our programmes make.

We regularly collect feedback from learners, which consistently shows increased confidence, improved communication skills, and greater independence. Many participants tell us they feel more connected to their community and better able to support their families.

We also track outcomes such as attendance, course completion, and progression into further learning, volunteering, or employment. For example, many of our ESOL learners begin with very limited English and go on to confidently communicate with schools, access services independently, and support their children’s education.

In our family and community programmes, parents demonstrate improved awareness of risks and greater confidence in keeping their children safe. These changes are often seen in “before and after” journeys—from isolation and uncertainty to confidence, knowledge, and connection.
